CALCULATIONS, CELEBRATIONS AND HOPE!

Nearly 3,200 registered for the ride this year, up more than 10 percent from 2006. Fund-raising to-date is at $1.5 million, running at a pace 14 percent ahead of this time last year.

While prizes and awards were calculated, celebrated and handed out Dec. 5, membership calculations for the Valero Bike to the Beach 100 Club of Top Fund-Raisers will remain open until the end of January. This will allow fourth-quarter corporate matching funds to be processed.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR MAKES

We’re on target to achieve, and possibly pass, our $1.6 million budgeted goal. Taking into account our other fund-raising events (Walk MS Corpus Christi and San Antonio, and our Dinner of Champions gala), South Texas raised more than $2.1 million in 2007, up more than $230,000 – or 12 percent – from last year.
