A Message from Valero’s CEO & Chairman
On behalf of Valero’s employees and Velo Valero, our bike team, we want to thank you for supporting the 2007 Valero MS 150 Bike to the Beach. With its new October 20-21 date, this year’s bike ride is shaping up to be the biggest and best in the event’s 18-year history. More importantly, this year’s goal is to raise a record $1.75 million to fight the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis (MS). Last year the Valero MS 150 Bike to the Beach raised $1.5 million to help in the fight for a cure.
Whether participating as a sponsor, cyclist or volunteer, you are playing an important role in this fight. Funds raised from this year’s Bike to the Beach will be used by the MS Society’s Lone Star Chapter to support critical research programs and to help the 17,000 individuals in Texas who are fighting MS. It is a worthwhile cause that is changing many lives for the better.
Valero is proud to sponsor the MS 150, which over the years has become one of our employees’ favorite fundraisers. Last year, Velo Valero had the largest team and raised an unprecedented $200,000 – nearly twice the record amount raised by the team in 2005. Our corporate and refinery employees also joined other volunteers to help at the breakpoints, lunch stop and finish line.
Valero is excited about doing even more to support this year’s bike ride, and we’re glad that you will be joining us. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those suffering from MS and contribute to eventually beating this terrible disease and winning the fight. Thank you for supporting the Valero MS 150.
